High Density Tungsten

Mi-Tech History

Mi-Tech Metals was incorporated in 1978 by four former employees of P.R. Mallory and the owners of Microcarbide. Copper and silver tungsten composite materials were the original product line. In the 1980s, Mi-Tech developed the ability to manufacture high density materials. Now high density materials comprise much of the product shipped each year from Mi-Tech. In 1994, Allan C. Bir purchased Mi-Tech from the original ownership.

Facility Powder RacksSince 1978, Mi-Tech has seen steady and controlled growth of its facility. In 1993 we outgrew the Senate Avenue location and moved to Massachusetts Avenue. This location has seen the expansion of the original building, as well as the acquisition of a second building. The total site includes 85,000 square feet of space for production, sales, and maintenance. Mi-Tech currently operates with 100 employees.

Today Mi-Tech is a leader in the production of tungsten-related products. Our customer base numbers over 10,000 companies, and we service a myriad of industries. Our products are used in industries from aerospace (ballast weights) to medical (radiation shielding); from homeland security (scanning and detection), to oil wells (exploration and drilling), automotive (welding), and defense (ordnance).

As we look towards the future, we see continued growth, and view our company as the standard by which all others will be measured.
